Ottawa International Game Conference Speakers Announced

World-class speakers from companies such as Ubisoft, Square Enix, OUYA, Microsoft and more

Ottawa, April 1st – The Ottawa International Game Conference (OIGC) is delighted to announce its speakers for the 3rd annual conference. Speakers from Canada, the United States, Latin America and Britain will be coming to the conference to share their experience and love of gaming. This year’s conference is expecting record attendance and the content is reflective of a bigger budget and a changing industry.

The opening remarks will feature comedian and Ottawa-born media mogul, Gavin McInnes. The former co-founder of Vice Magazine, which is now valued at over $1 billion, is now Creative Director at Rooster New York, and recently wrote and starred in “How To Be A Man”, available on Netflix. His talk will cover Ottawa, entrepreneurship and creativity.

Being an international game conference means the OIGC has brought in some excellent talent from around the world. Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Kellee Santiago is the producer of the critically acclaimed Playstation games Flow and Flower, as well as a TED fellow and backer of the Indie Fund. Santiago is now head of developer relations at OUYA and will be representing the company at OIGC. Oscar Clark of Amplifier in the UK, is the author of “Games As A Service: How Free To Play Design Can Make Better Games”. Clark will be speaking as well as attending a panel on game monetization. Also from the UK, David Hawkins from Exient, the company largely responsible for “Angry Birds: Go!” and “Angry Birds Star Wars”, will be talking about dev studio partnerships. Attendees will also be excited to learn that Peter Heinrich of Amazon will also be on the Game Development track talking about Amazon’s Game Circle.

Not only does OIGC have international speaker appeal, but it’s also going all out to showcase local and Canadian speakers and companies. Thiéry adams, from Ludia, will be speaking at the conference with regards to some of his past titles including Far Cry Instincts, Star Wars Lethal Alliance, Jurassic Park Builder and many more across all major platforms. Attendees can also expect to hear from Ottawa veterans and conference founders John Criswick and Scott Simpson. Criswick has been actively investing in the local game industry as well as steering Magmic Games as CEO. Scott Simpson, CEO and co-founder of Bitheads, one of North America’s largest app and enterprise development companies, will doing a talk on how to start your own studio.

Overall, attendees can expect to see some of their favorite speakers from last year, as well as some really interesting new topics and speakers. With the conference broken into three streams: Business, Indie and Development, there’s something at the conference for everyone.

About the 2014 Ottawa International Game Conference

The 2014 Ottawa International Game Conference takes place at the NAC from May 25th – 27th. The event is organized by a consortium of Ottawa game developers and business organizations led by Magmic, Fuel, bitHeads/Playbrains, Snowed In Studios, Dirty Rectangles with the Official party by House of SAS.
